How to measure your mattress
- 1Width — measure side to side across the top of the mattress at the widest point.
- 2Length — measure head to foot along the top of the mattress.
- 3Depth — measure from the top surface down to the base. Include any mattress topper in this measurement.
Our fitted sheets have a 40cm wall depth up to Double, and 45cm from Queen up. Most standard mattresses, including with a topper, fall within this range.
Sizing tips
- If your mattress is between sizes, size up for fitted sheets — you can tuck in the extra, but you can't add fabric.
- For quilt covers, choose the size that matches your quilt fill, not your mattress — a Queen quilt needs a Queen cover regardless of bed frame size.
- Buying from New Zealand? Check whether you need NZ King (168cm) rather than AU King (183cm) — and note that AU Super King (203cm) differs from the New Zealand equivalent too.
- Flax linen has slightly more relaxed sizing than cotton — it's a natural characteristic of the fabric, not a manufacturing variation.
Common questions
What if my mattress is a non-standard depth?
Our fitted sheets have a 40cm wall depth in Single, Long Single, King Single and Double, and a 45cm wall depth in Queen, NZ King, AU King and AU Super King. This accommodates standard and extra-deep mattresses, including most mattress toppers. If your mattress plus topper exceeds the wall depth, we recommend sizing up.
How much overhang does a flat sheet have?
Flat sheet dimensions allow for a generous tuck-in on all sides at a standard mattress height. For a more relaxed draped look, this gives plenty of fabric.
Do quilt covers fit all quilts of the same size?
Yes — our quilt covers are sized to match standard Australian quilt fill dimensions. A Queen quilt cover fits a standard Queen quilt (210 × 210cm).
Are Australian and NZ bed sizes the same?
Mostly. Single, Double and Queen dimensions are identical. New Zealand King differs — it is 168cm wide against the AU King at 183cm, and AU Super King differs from the New Zealand equivalent as well — so we list NZ King separately in the chart above. Always check the size name on the product listing if ordering across the Tasman.
